Production steps involved in manufacturing a lithium battery pack

 

Material Preparation:

The production process begins with the preparation of raw materials, including lithium compounds, metal foils (such as copper and aluminum), electrolytes, and separators. These materials are inspected and prepared for further processing.

51.2V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery Storage Pack use high-quality lithium ion battery cells from top brands, its safety is higher than normal lithium cobalt acid battery and ternary lithium battery. Compared with the battery life of other materials, the lithium iron phosphate battery life is longer, and its cycle life can reach more than 2000~5000 times with the standard charge (0.2C, 5 hours). The high temperature resistance of lithium iron phosphate battery is also better than other materials, and its thermal peak can reach 350℃-500℃. It also has the characteristics of light weight and large capacity. Under the same specification capacity, the volume of lithium iron phosphate battery is 2/3 of the volume of lead-acid battery, the weight is 1/3 of lead-acid battery, but the energy density is several times that of lead-acid battery. Electrode Manufacturing: The next step involves producing the positive and negative electrodes of the battery. Typically, a slurry is prepared by mixing active materials (such as lithium cobalt oxide for the positive electrode and graphite for the negative electrode) with binders, conductive additives, and solvents. This slurry is then coated onto metal foils, dried, and calendared to form electrode sheets. The sheets are cut into desired shapes and sizes.

 

Cell Assembly: In this step, the positive and negative electrodes, along with separators, are assembled into a cell. The electrodes are interleaved with a porous separator that allows the flow of ions while preventing electrical contact between them. The cell assembly is placed into a casing, and the electrolyte is added to facilitate ion transport. The casing is sealed to prevent leakage.

Aging and Formation: The newly assembled cells undergo an aging process where they are stored under controlled conditions to stabilize their performance. After aging, the cells go through a formation process that involves charging and discharging cycles to activate and condition the electrodes.

 

Battery Pack Assembly: Once the cells are ready, they are combined to form a battery pack. The cells are connected in series and parallel configurations to achieve the desired voltage and capacity. The interconnections are made using welded or soldered tabs, and thermal management components (such as heat sinks or cooling plates) may be added to regulate temperature.

Battery Management System (BMS) Integration: A BMS is incorporated into the battery pack to monitor and control various parameters, including voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge. The BMS helps optimize the battery's performance, enhance safety, and enable features like balancing cell voltages and providing protection against overcharging or overdischarging.

Testing and Quality Assurance: The battery packs undergo rigorous testing to ensure their performance, safety, and reliability. This includes electrical testing, capacity measurement, temperature testing, and environmental testing (such as vibration and impact tests). Quality control processes are implemented to identify and rectify any defects or deviations.

Packaging and Final Inspection: After passing the testing phase, the battery packs are packaged according to specific requirements.
